Level 1 Cleaning Sciences – Carpet Cleaning

Program Overview

The Carpet Cleaning certificate is a short, face-to-face course that provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to clean carpets effectively and safely. Students will learn about the different types of carpets, carpet construction, carpet cleaning methods and equipment, carpet cleaning chemicals and stain removal, and carpet maintenance and protection.
    Module 1: Introduction to Carpet Cleaning
  • Define carpet cleaning and explain its importance.
  • Identify the different types of carpets and their unique cleaning requirements.
  • Understand the basic principles of carpet cleaning.
  • Apply carpet cleaning principles to real-world scenarios.
    Module 2: Carpet Types and Construction
  • Identify and understand the different types of carpet fibers and their construction.
  • Determine the best cleaning methods for different types of carpets.
  • Avoid damaging carpets during the cleaning process.
    Module 3: Carpet Cleaning Methods and Equipment
  • Identify and select the appropriate cleaning methods and equipment for different types of carpets and soils.
  • Use carpet cleaning methods and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain carpet cleaning equipment properly.
    Module 4: Carpet Cleaning Chemicals and Stain Removal
  • Identify and select the appropriate carpet cleaning chemicals for different types of soils and stains.
  • Use carpet cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
  • Remove common carpet stains safely and effectively.
    Module 5: Carpet Maintenance and Protection
  • Develop and implement carpet maintenance plans.
  • Apply carpet protectants to carpets to extend their lifespan and protect them from stains and damage.
  • Address common carpet maintenance issues, such as matting, traffic lanes, and odors.
  • High school or equivalent
