Level 2 Operations and Maintenance

Program Overview

The Operations and Maintenance certificate is a short, face-to-face course that provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to manage and maintain facilities efficiently and effectively. Students will learn about the different aspects of facilities management, how to develop and implement operations and maintenance plans, and how to establish and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
    Module 1: Facilities Management Overview
  • Define facilities management and explain its role in organizations.
  • Identify the different types of facilities and the unique challenges and requirements of each.
  • Understand the different functions of facilities management, such as planning, maintenance, operations, and sustainability.
  • Describe the importance of facilities management in supporting organizational goals.
    Module 2: Operations and Maintenance Planning
  • Develop and implement operations and maintenance plans for different types of facilities.
  • Identify and manage facility risks.
  • Develop and implement facility maintenance and operations procedures.
  • Oversee the work of facility maintenance and operations staff.
    Module 3: Preventive Maintenance Programs
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for different types of equipment and systems.
  • Schedule and track preventive maintenance activities.
  • Manage preventive maintenance budgets.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs.
    Module 4: Corrective Maintenance Procedures
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and system failures.
  • Perform corrective maintenance procedures to repair or replace defective equipment and systems.
  • Manage corrective maintenance budgets.
  • Track and measure corrective maintenance performance.
