Program Overview

The Sustainability certificate under Facilities Management is a short, face-to-face course that provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to implement sustainable practices in facilities management. Students will learn about the different aspects of sustainability in facilities, such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, indoor environmental quality, and sustainable building materials.
    Module 1: Introduction to Sustainability in Facilities Management
  • Define sustainability and explain its importance in facilities management.
  • Identify the different aspects of sustainability in facilities management, such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, indoor environmental quality, and sustainable building materials.
  • Understand the benefits of sustainable facilities management for organizations and the environment.
  • Apply sustainability principles to facilities management practices.
    Module 2: Energy Efficiency and Conservation in Facilities
  • Identify and assess energy consumption in facilities.
  • Develop and implement energy efficiency and conservation measures in facilities.
  • Manage energy budgets and track energy performance.
  • Use energy management software to support energy efficiency and conservation efforts.
    Module 3: Water Conservation and Waste Management in Facilities
  • Identify and assess water consumption in facilities.
  • Develop and implement water conservation measures in facilities.
  • Manage water budgets and track water performance.
  • Develop and implement waste management plans in facilities.
  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle waste materials in facilities.
    Module 4: Indoor Environmental Quality and Sustainable Building Materials
